Re: Looking for new system, 5-7 cams

If I had it all to do over again, I'd buy a cheap refurb box off of eBay, something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/274793799263 Dell Optiplex 9020 SFF PC Core i7 4th Gen 16GB RAM 1TB Hard Drive 2 DisplayPorts, USB 2.0, USB 3.0 Optical Drive Win 10 Not bad for ~$250. Maybe something with a littl...

Re: Stainless IP cameras?

I'd get a decent camera and then just spray-coat it repeatedly with Plasti-Dip, maybe 5 or 10 coats or so (be sure to mask off the lens, of course). Plasti-Dip will dry to a very durable, flexible coating that will withstand seawater, salt, hot/cold temperatures, etc. There's also a liquid version o...

Re: Cannot open direct-to-disk .mp4 files

Are you using Quicktime? A lot of the errors I found searching on that message seem to be related to using Quicktime. "This error can be linked to the wrong Audio codec in the .mp4 container. Some encoders incorrectly put this as 103 rather than 64. One can use mp4ui or some third-party tools t...

Re: What made you choose BI over alternatives

Flexibility and features were 2 of my key "must haves". BI can use almost any camera, and it has an impressive number of configuration options that give it very broad capability. It also has some 3rd-party extensibility for things like AI face/human detection, license plate reading, etc. A...

Re: Question about Windows10 Update 21H1

For my Homeseer set up, I ended up with various sub programs (Node Red/ DeConz/ LogTemp etc) that had to be manually started before Homeseer itself. To get around that, I use an old program called "startup-delayer" from https://www.r2.com.au/page/products/show/startup-delayer/ Cool, I'll ...

Re: Question about Windows10 Update 21H1

I've used a few of these things over the years, the last one being debloater. I can feel a Win10 re-install coming up this year :? I've used Debloater and it's pretty good. I'm not sure, but I understand that it won't always prevent things like Cortana from coming back. I can't say for certain yet ...

Re: Question about Windows10 Update 21H1

Here's some of the screens from MSMG Toolkit showing some of the stuff you can completely obliterate from a Windows install. Since it's the source disk it makes a cleaner install, and none of this stuff is going to mysteriously come back through an update (supposedly). - Cortana, GONE. XBox crap, GO...

Re: Are there any wired IP doorbell cameras?

Ah, I get it. So they lie about PoE. Interesting. Why on earth would anyone design a power over rj45 without internet? Some products make stupid decisions. Exactly. If I had a dollar for every product I clicked on that said "Doorbell camera with PoE" only to find out that it was just for ...

Re: Are there any wired IP doorbell cameras?

PoE IS and ethernet connection. It just says that it takes its power over the ethernet line. You can get pretty cheap hubs that supply PoE power. I know, the problem is that many of these doorbells that claim PoE as a feature use it only for power and not data. I want a fully-wired connection back ...

Re: Recording issue since version 5.4.6.4

Since I installed 5.4.7.1, BI refuses to connect to my RCA doorbell. Nothing changed but the update, but it simply will not connect, failing with the "8000274d (Failed to connect)" error. Restarting the camera doesn't work, killing and restoring power doesn't work, BI simply won't connect ...
