Yup, thats the problem with all of this. Tweak to get the performance as good as it can be, then you realize 'oh, I have overhead for more cameras now........' It's a vicious cycle

Re: This Forum
Well technically with the slower server you can view the same amount of content here and spend more time... so no need to go to the other place we shall not mention.

This sounds similar to another current thread on this forum: https://blueirissoftware.com/forum/view ... f=4&t=1368
I wonder if it has something to do with the Intel decoding.

Re: BI corrupted video / performance issue
Just curious, you said when HW accel is off, no issues. Are you capable of running without the accel? How are your stats? Just curious if that may not just be the simplest solution. That said, you have HW and understandably want to use it, and HW accel is a thing soo, I get it. I occasionally get li...

Re: Random Unavailable via phone
Wow thank you for following up and I'm glad it seems to have been resolved with some patches. Sorry you didn't get more assistance on this in "the heat of it". Not that I am a developer or anything but I didn't post anything. What sort of script are you running? Just curious. The only othe...

killerbotics: Now what's all this HA vs D2D talk ? Surely for lowest cpu load we should be using both 8-) HeneryH: Take the RED pill. Nno wait, I meant the BLUE pill. MikeBwca: Does this mean I can stop trying to sort out that darn Foscam local NTP server issue ? Will this load up the cpu ? Testing...

Re: Rack mount hardware suggestions
Did you end up getting an answer to your question? I'm also looking at a possible server solution and tgere are some really good deals on eBay ATM but need to know if the cpu will hold up. NAS Server 1RU – HP ProLiant DL320e Gen8 – E3-1230v2 Also, for choosing CPUs (if you get any selection from yo...

Re: Hardware acceleration (QSV/NVENC) vs direct to disk for lower CPU load?
If your key frames are 1 per second (as recommended), what kind of motion are you missing that is less than one second? More false positives? I suppose if you're running cinema quality cameras and want to see insects fly by, then sure. But I have never missed a human or vehicle, I'm fairly good at c...

Re: Hardware acceleration (QSV/NVENC) vs direct to disk for lower CPU load?
I may not have some of the experience of some of the others here but my Xeon processors are tool old to have QSV and my server doesn't have any sort of added GPU for processing.... and when I turned on Direct-to-Disk it was like night and day. Along with 'Limit decoding unless required'... I've gone...

Re: Rack mount hardware suggestions
I have a lot of (work) history with HP ProLiant servers so thats where I went for mine. I also got a good deal on eBay though for an older server, a DL180 G6. It came loaded except for hard drives.... I liked this option, specifically the 180, because it's made for 3.5" drives of which I had ab...
