Re: Do I Need a New Licence To Access A Remote Install?

Based on the date of that video, that would appear to be the way it's been since v5 was released. I agree it doesn't make a ton of sense, as the video notes as well, but I've had zero issues just remoting to the server. I'm sure theres a reason (video said it was "janky"???) but I've had n...

Re: Do I Need a New Licence To Access A Remote Install?

What kind of remote connection to the running server are you looking for? You can use a web interface (called UI3) to view anything... it's more of a view only interface, not for making admin changes. Most people will utilize a remote access solution to control the server if needed (remote desktop, ...

Re: singe core speed vs core count

I have not seen or am aware of a limit to the number of cores. AFAIK, the more the better and I'm already using quite a few - albeit on pretty old processors. As for clock speed vs number of cores and which being better.... thats a hard call. This site has samples of real-world BI installs that you ...

Re: Licence key

I support the model.. as long as they continue to be responsive in reasonable situations. They give the ability to transfer the license and have a pretty high threshold at 10. I would be willing to bet that is rarely approached by anyone so this does help weed out the nefarious use. While the OP did...

Re: 2-way audio with HIK camera

I'm kind of in the same boat except that I've never figured it out on my end... probably haven't played with it enough. I have at least one SV3C (Dahua based.... so similar to the Amcrest) that supposedly supports it but I only get recordings, not speaking.

Re: Advice on cheap camera on Amazon

Theres probably a billion choices since so many of them are just rebrands of either Dahua or Hikvision. It also depends on what kind of camera you want and what "cheap" is. If the $50 ballpark is right for you I have been VERY happy with my SV3C brand cameras I purchased all from Amazon - ...

Re: BI 5 continuing to crash

Have not had this issue, running 5.4.9.8 as we speak but upgrading to 5.4.9.10 by the time this post is live.

Re: Status Window Warning

That does seem strange. I have noticed the math on mine seems a little wonky but still, the way I'm reading that seems to indicate you have things right. Out of curiosity, maybe you've already looked there, but on that Blue Iris Status page... what does the "Clip Storage" tab look like?

Re: New camera setup

Yeah sorry your post went so long without a reply. I pretty much agree, I do get an itch when my firmware hasn't been updated in a long time BUT I've also been told directly by my camera vendors that they didn't recommend an update 'just to update', so only if theres an issue. My cameras have all be...

Re: Looking for new system, 5-7 cams

This is true, potentially better disk compression. I'm not sure of the actual ratios and/or how much you gain and clearly I can't be bothered enough to google it. Since it's fairly easy to change and monitor I'd probably just set it one way and observe. I'm cramming about 3 weeks worth of recordings...
