Re: Blue Iris Software Settings for Demo System

I'm not sure if I can answer all of those but I can do some: 1) If we buy Licensed Blue Iris for the demo machine, can we use the same for the actual machine later. Yes. The license can only be used on one system at a time but you can deregister it from one and transfer to another 2) BI settings : a...

Re: Looking for new system, 5-7 cams

Nice! Always exciting when someone buys new toys.. kind of like buying a new car (only a LOT less money :) ) Sounds like a really good deal, enjoy! Hit us up again if you run into configuration questions or issues. Blue Iris and camera settings can be set to completely cripple even the most modern C...

Re: Looking for new system, 5-7 cams

I agree, that system should work just fine. I'd always recommend (as Thixo did) to just shop around a bit to get the best CPU bang for your buck. All other specs are more than sufficient but the CPU listed should be just fine too! And yes, BI supports using network storage, second drives, whatever p...

Re: Looking for new system, 5-7 cams

You can certainly run an i5 processor or a Xeon server grade CPU. An i7 is just more cores than an i5 and Blue Iris if anything is CPU hungry. I don't think a Core2duo is going to be a good experience BUT..... if you have it, there really is no harm in trying it. It might end up being miserable in w...

Re: Confusion about access to updates to V5

Just to report on the experience, I had my first auto-renewal go through. It was pretty painless. About 2 weeks prior I got an email notification (warning?) that it was coming up, the date it would occur, and the total amount that would be billed. Then on the actual day I got an email receipt, then ...

Re: is Blue Iris a background service demon?

For 3-4 cameras I think that should be plenty of system. Of course a lot of that comes down to tuning and configuration. You can easily kill a CPU with the wrong settings. Both of these articles are very helpful in getting optimized settings: https://ipcamtalk.com/wiki/optimizing-blue-iris-s-cpu-usa...

Re: is Blue Iris a background service demon?

There is a 200+ page help file thats pretty helpful included with the installer. To the best of my knowledge it is not available outside the installer package and thats largely because it gets updated/tweaked with every (frequent) release. As IAmATeaf said, yes it can run as a service and auto-start...

Re: NVidia Decode/EnCode

I only do Intel decoding but you should be able to set the type of decoding you want each camera to do in the 'Video' tab of each. There is a default option which will revert to the system default value but otherwise you could set half to Intel and half to Nvidia (in theory). I wasn't aware of a dev...

Re: PC Location

My server runs on an actual rack mount server in my basement with no monitors connected (not conveniently anyway). RDP and WebUI (UI3) has been working fine for me! The UI3 interface itself causes negligible added resource utilization, if configured properly, so this is a great solution in my opinion.
